baaaack.
Posted by brookem under boobs, daily, friendship, girly stuff, good heads of hair that (I wanted) to turn me on, kitty, lists, memories, now we sip champagne when we thirst-ayWell hello blogworld! I’m back! My time away in Cali seemed to just breeze by in a minute. Some highlights from my trip include:
- Some good pool time, which gave me the opportunity to finally finish reading The Kite Runner (I know I’ve been talking about it for months), and to start reading this, which was a sweet gift from a co-worker before I left!
- Ooooh!! Speaking of gifts!!!! Remember this ring that I had on my birthday wish list last week?!! Well guess what? My good good bloggy-turned-real-life friend Miss Nilsa went ahead and ordered it up just for me, and it was waiting in a little envelope when I returned last night! Thank you SO much lady!
- This:
- And this:
-
A new Coach purse that I gifted myself from the outlet store that my mom and I spent several hours at one afternoon.
-
Definitely lots of good, really quality time with my mom.
-
This new little ditty, similar to the one I was eyeing last week:

(little bit sunburned?)
(Yeah, I know. The cuteness. I’m tearing up again just posting these. 5 weeks!)
-
Birthday martinis. Blueberry Lemondrop. To die for.
-
Lots of plane time. This wasn’t actually a “highlight” per se, but it did give me lots of thinking time. I reflected on a conversation that Mr. Match and I had where he said he didn’t like that I used “woot.” Red flag #36! Though I do miss his big bear hugs and his HOH, I do not, my friends, miss that type of shit. Oof.
There’s lots more to report from my Cali excursion, but for now I’m off with my roommate and some friends for a belated little birthday dinner and drinks!
Can someone please explain these new quilt-esque avatars that are going on lately?

Wait. What?
I was going to comment on all the other stuff, but the w00t comment got me.
What. The. Hell??? Seriously, he didn’t like that? Maybe I’m baised since I use that word a lot.
Ok, enough of that. Welcome back!!! Those kittehs are sooooo flippin’ adorable! I’m so glad that you had a wonderful trip and that you had good quality mom time and that you had surprises waiting for you when you got back! Best way to end a vacation? Come back to fun surprise gifts!

Oh, and I have no idea what the heck is up with the quilty avatar thing. But mine is the same as it is on your last post and on Brandy’s. So, I guess I get my own personalized avatar even though I’m not on wordpress? Weird.
May 7, 2008 at 5:46 pm
Oh…one more thing. I was going through files on my computer and I found pictures you sent me from when Cosmo was a kitten! He was so little!!
May 7, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Aw those kitties are precious! I’m glad your trip was awesome and that you got so much stuff off of your wish list! :)
May 7, 2008 at 7:24 pm
aw yay glad you had such a good trip and birthday! :)
May 7, 2008 at 7:28 pm
It’s this new wordpress dealio with the little avatars. I read about it today. I guess there is away to select which style you want for your comment section.
Glad you had such a fun time!
Kitty cuteness overload. :)
May 7, 2008 at 7:39 pm
No clue about the quilty things, and they kind of freak me out.
Woot? Who hates “woot”? What’s wrong with Woot? Yeah, I got to the kittens and Woot, and that about had me…that and the Blueberry Lemondrop…sounds delish!
May 7, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Glad you had a good trip. What more could you ask for - sunshine, shopping, drinks, and kittens?!
The fact that Mr. Match actually made a point to tell you he didn’t like “woot” is just completely retarded. Good riddance. There are better bear huggers in the sea…err forest…
May 7, 2008 at 8:29 pm
I watched the film adaptation of The Kite Runner and BAWLED
seriously.
May 7, 2008 at 10:02 pm
wOOt!!! Nice post!! Welcome back!
May 7, 2008 at 11:59 pm
I’m so glad to hear you had a great time in CA with your mom. Can’t wait to hear all about it (be sure to send me pics, please). Also, The Kite Runner, something else I can’t wait to talk to you about.
May 8, 2008 at 12:19 am
Sounds like an awesome time! Also, that is some serious adorableness with those kittens!
May 8, 2008 at 2:01 am
But I don’t want a quilt! Welcome back Brookem. It’s good to hear from you. I don’t recall you mentioning the woot thing with Mr. Match. That’s the kind of thing that would have pissed me off. Do you have friends with crazy sounding last names?
May 8, 2008 at 3:34 am
I love these new quilts! They make the comments page that much more pretty.
Good to have you back! And thank you for the kitten photos. They are so adorable!
May 8, 2008 at 8:13 am
Looks like you had such a great trip! The kittens are really, really cute! And the sunburn, I’m sure it’ll turn into a nice tan, right?
May 8, 2008 at 8:20 am
Aren’t those the rehabbed famous kittens from the 80’s? You know the ones, one was on a poster, holding onto a chin-up bar, with the tag line, “hang in there baby” while the other graced t-shirts with the expression “cute and cuddly”? I wondered what ever happened to them- I figured they were handed out at a local grocery store once the residual checks from their commercial work dried up! They seem to be managing better than Erin Moran!
Welcome back!
May 8, 2008 at 8:28 am
awww those kitties!
the avatars make me want to log out and see which one I get.
Glad you had such a fantastic time. Aren’t blueberry lemondrops perfection?
May 8, 2008 at 8:54 am
You, my dear, are mighty welcome. Then again, you made it pretty darn easy to give you a great gift. :-) California sounds fab (despite the fact they had an earthquake just before you got there, no?) and to come home to more celebrating … well deserved, my dear!
May 8, 2008 at 8:58 am
Yay for vacays! I’m glad you had a good time :)
Yeah, the avatars are weird. I have a default one, but for some reason I get the quilty-thing on occasion.
May 8, 2008 at 8:59 am
Yay! Happy belated birthday! And I’m so glad to hear your trip kicked ass - that is definitely what any birthday girl needs - a little sun(burn), drinks, kitties and family :) And I too have noticed the weird quilts. wtf is goin on around here
May 8, 2008 at 10:33 am
HI BROOKEM!! Welcome back!
Kitties = ADORABLE. I will post pictures of danni as soon as I can so we can share in the adorableness that is kittens.
May 8, 2008 at 10:59 am
Blueberry Lemondrop? Sounds divine! Wait! Those aren’t the kittens’ names, are they?

May 8, 2008 at 1:06 pm

Whose kitties are those????
May 8, 2008 at 1:35 pm
I love Chelsea Handler! I must read that book!
Glad you had a good trip. :)
May 8, 2008 at 4:14 pm
You have to tell me if you like that Chelsea Handler book! I think she is Fing hilarious. And OMG those bright eyed babies!! Steve and I are adopting two kittens, but we are still on the search for the perfect pair…
May 8, 2008 at 4:50 pm

carrie- danni! yes, i cant wait!!
diane mandy- ha, not their names. the drinks were SO good.
cris- thank you!
justrun- isnt the necklace funky? its a good conversation piece for sure.
anne- no kidding! or shut the eff up about it then. the kittens are this neighbor of the guy who we stayed with. so cute.

lara- i love that you are going to adopt a pair! i think it’s great if you can get two!
alexa- thank you! what else do you drink blueberry vodka with- any good recipes? SO nice of nilsa!
May 8, 2008 at 10:04 pm
I’m allergic to cats but would totally risk it for those kittens.
And that ring? is beautiful!
May 9, 2008 at 9:15 am
“woot” was a deal breaker for him?? Crazy man! Sounds like you had a great time in Cali and happy belated birthday honey!
May 9, 2008 at 7:59 pm
I am not a cat fan, by any means but could easily convert for those little kittens! Too cute!!! Glad to hear you had a great time - even if it did come with a little sunburn. And don’t fret too much over Mr. Match - anyone who can’t stand the word “woot” well there seriously is something wrong with them!
May 10, 2008 at 6:55 pm
That sounds so, so lovely! I’m glad you had a wonderful time and those photos of blue sky and sunshine are making me slightly jealous. :)
May 15, 2008 at 10:23 am
Those kitties are so adorable. I have a tortie so I’m especially partial to the tortie baby you have.
